Graduation and Summerbreak - Maja Design June Mood Board
Today I've got two inspirational layouts for you. This months Mood Board is inspired by the early summer days. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to win a Maja Design collection of your own choice here.
Based on the gorgeous Äntligen collection, this is the perfect opportunity to finally scrap your graduation/speechday photos. I've done both! :)
My first inspirational layout is a very Swedish one. Our graduation is called "studenten" and we celebrate it with lots of blue and yellow (Swedish flag colours).
This is me outside my parents house when I got home in the afternoon. We run out on the stairs of our school, singing, before we meet up with family and friends where they hang flowers and toys around your neck. If you are "lucky" you get an embarrassing placard with a humiliating photo of you as a child like I did. You need to carry everything during a parade through the entire town to watch our large waterfalls. Gosh, the years truely pass too fast. It's 18 years ago this week.
Summerflowers, bloomers, some punching, distressing and rub-on...
The gorgeous stamps where a gift by a dear friend of mine. I've embossed it with white embossing powder. The rose is one of my favourites by Wild Orchid Crafts (Trellis rose). I just love the lace with bling by Prima.
And here's the second layout I made...
This is my class photo from Speechday, third grade. I guess we were all anxious to get out of there, let the summer break begin.
I love that paper with the daisys and butterflies on it (Ljusblåa dagar). I thought it cute enough to make a circle out of it. Those lace flowers are a favourite of mine (Prima). I tried to follow the mood board, using as many of the words as possible. So I've covered Summer Break, Swirls, Speechday, Pearls, Ribbon, Flowers and Sunlight Yellow with this layout.
I've used paint, texture paste, color shine spray and chalks on the background.
I had to cut down our lilacs last year. For me, the smell of lilacs is like smelling summer break. They are always in full bloom when the summer break begins and I just love it. But no lilacs for me this year...
I hope you got inspired. :)

My Story
My x boyfriend loved to watch airshows so we attended a couple through the years. This is me a very windy day at Såtenäs, an airbase in Sweden.
I used to work as a welder in those days so it looks like I have a wrestler's neck! LOL. I have used different Crackle Paints on the Nature Garden papers by Prima. The golden Color Shine spray by Heidi Swapp that I've used on the canvas swirl is a mayor favourite.
I've got a thing for black tulles, I think it looks so gorgeous.
Another angle. I love to use canvas letters as random decoration. Sometimes layered, sometimes painted. They always make a great detail. The cute mini hanger is a bargain I made when JoAnn's had 50% off.
Same with the gear. I've actually taken the Seven Gypsies metal gears to my heart. They are a bit different then Tim Holtz Idea-ology. A bit sturdier and I like that.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday.
Supplies used:
Papers, chipboard, letters, trinket and flowers from Prima Nature Garden collection
Roses by Wild Orchid Crafts
Mini hangers and gears by Seven Gypsies
Punch by Martha Stewart (Floral Vine)
Crackle Paint Brushed Pewter
Crackle Paint Tattered Rose
Crackle Paint Old Paper
Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold Lame
Stick back canvas by Ranger
Pen from Sakura
Tim Holtz/Sizzix die Elegant Flourishes

Smile - it makes you live longer
A question I often get is "are you allowed to use other papers then Maja Design?". Yes I am. We encourage creativity and art at Maja and that includes other brands then our own. A year and a half ago I decided not to take on any new dt-assignments, but I simply couldn't resist joining the Maja team. I had long discussions with the owner and realized we had the same view of how a design team is supposed to be. That in combination with my love for Maja made me join the team. So that is still the reason why I do use a lot of Maja papers. It's been my favourite brand since I first started scrapbooking. My drawers are full with tons of papers by other brands, but I always end up with Maja even if I have decided to try using some of my other stuff. But this time I actually managed to make a Prima layout. :)
This is me doing the dishes in my old apartment. I love the text on the background paper and highlighted it with Glimmer Glam. I also like to give some structure to it, hence the texture paste to the right.
I got inspired by a layout that Jennifer Snyder made some time ago where she had cut out a doily like this and added flowers. I used double ribbons and a bunch of flowers together with a Dusty Attic chipboard painted with Crackle Paint.
I've also added Distress Stickles to the flower on the background to make it pop...
A girl can't have too much flowers and bling... :)
I hope you got inspired and have a great Sunday!

Garden notes
I guess we all have a bunch of stamps in our drawers that we rarely use. I usually use most of my supplies, but I've got a gorgeous book cover stamp that was bought for a specific reason and then never used. So I made a binder for my mother's garden notes that she keeps all over the house...
And here it is. :) I've played around with Glossy Paper, Alcohol Inks, Tim Holtz stamps and Utee powder on the entire binder. I've used the book cover stamp for the front. So nice to finally use it.
The backside is stamped with one of my favourite butterfly stamps. I have tried to use light garden colours on the covers. On the inside I've attached a Tim Holtz Ring Binder.
The backside. A mixture of different Tim Holtz stamps. Some of them with Utee, some without to create a bit of dimension.
The finished binder...
Supplies used:
All stamps by Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous
Clear Utee Powder
Glossy paper by Ranger
White resin by Prima
Tim Holtz Ring Binder Large
Ranger Alcohol Ink
Mixatives Pearl
Lemonade
Sandal
Lake Mist
Latte
Pink Sherbet
Cloudy Blue
Juniper
Cool Perl
Eggplant
Pesto
Blending Solution
